Services and limits
What is the difference between a bookkeeping service and a tax advisor?
Under German law, a bookkeeping service may set up charts of accounts, book current transactions, run payroll and prepare wage tax returns. VAT returns, annual accounts, tax returns and tax advice are reserved for tax advisors. That is why we work with partner tax advisors.
Do I have to sign two contracts?
Yes, one with GKM for bookkeeping and payroll and one with the tax advisor for taxes. Both run digitally in one process.
Can I keep my own tax advisor?
Yes. We deliver the bookkeeping to them in DATEV format.
Do you also provide staff for our bookkeeping?
We take over your bookkeeping with a dedicated GKM bookkeeper on a monthly contingent. The bookkeeper remains employed by us and works digitally, on site when needed.
Prices
What does bookkeeping cost per month?
From €149 a month. The exact price depends on the number of receipts, accounts and how you work. Net, plus VAT.
Is there a base fee for payroll?
No. You pay from €25 per employee and month, depending on the type of payroll.
Working together
Do you work in English?
Yes. E-mails, explanations of your reports and meetings are possible in English. The client portal and all contracts are available in German and English; the German version of the contracts is legally binding.
How do I send receipts?
By phone photo, upload in the client portal or forwarding to your receipt inbox.
Do I have to come to Hamburg?
No. We work digitally with companies throughout Germany. In Hamburg we are happy to come to you.
Where is my data stored?
The bookkeeping is kept in DATEV in Germany, the client portal runs on our own server at IONOS, a German provider, with a data centre in the EU. Data processing agreements are in place with all service providers.
